Things to do

Whether you are looking to pass a peaceful hour or two while breaking your journey or prefer to stay overnight, over the weekend or make this area your holiday, Brough has something to entertain, amuse and give you food for thought. In such a well established community, its history, geography and geology are everywhere you look. Its pivotal position as a gateway to the Upper Eden Valley - a little known gem in its own right - dictated its principal function as a gathering place and that tradition continues today.

Grand Prix Club
A long established meeting place for the young [and not so young!] of the area, Grand Prix has recently changed direction to bring some of the biggest names in dance music to the club as it takes on a new lease of life. The Grand Prix Club [now operating under The Last Call Ltd banner] will play host to some huge acts including Krafty Kuts, Evil Nine, Plump DJs, Stanton Warriors, Linton Brown and Ash Howell. Apart from bringing some big names to the venue, the Directors of The Last Call Ltd hope to create a showcase for local talent.

Parish Church of St. Michael, Church Brough

Church Brough is a haven of peace and tranquility - remarked on many, many times in the visitors' book.

Parts of it date from the 12th century, but it has been rebuilt, ransacked, rebuilt again and added to over the centuries to become the church it is today. This is one of the few churches in the land where the bride actually does walk up the aisle to her wedding due to the gently sloping nave! We welcome visitors and there is lots more information about the building available in the church. There is also a comprehensive display about the area's history in the church and the churchyard bears witness to the generations of local families who have called Brough their home.
